Inspired by Shirin Neshat, I utilized the technique of juxtaposition to represent the relationship between Muslims and the idea of violence. The media, both in the news and in the entertainment industry, oftentimes characterizes Muslims as violent and aggressive. This is a false stereotype. Around the world, Muslims face countless prejudices and injustices for their identity, as represented by the knives. The placement of the knives is essential to the idea of the photograph, as they symbolize the violence that is directed towards Muslims.
